Jack has photos in one of his albums which were taken at Port Said. We don’t think Jack took them himself but they do show something of the dockside events.

This gives an idea of life. The coaling is being done by local men carrying buckets.
The coal is gathered from barges moored alongside Kenilworth Castle.
It is carried up or along gang planks.
And then it is tipped into hatches in the ship whilst the troops on board stand and watch.
When all is ready, ships leave and one photo shows the French cruiser ‘Duplex’ leaving Port Said.
